The latest tender acoustic track from the Norwegian singer-songwriter, the song features a minimalist arrangement of thea's lone vocals being paired with the softly strummed guitar. thea's second song, "While He Is Still Asleep" captures the story of an eroding relationship in its early stages with the artist's melodic dream-pop sound.
Discussing the new single, thea says: “While He Is Still Asleep is a short glimpse into your neighbours apartment. It’s a melancholic song about heartbreak, love, and the timeless early signs of erosion in/of a relationship. I had just bought a guitar, tried to learn how to play, and out of that this song appeared. I saw this story and couple clearly in my mind, and for some years I thought I had made it all up. Years later, I realise there may be some hidden truths from my own life at that time in it as well.”
Surrounding herself with music from a young age, thea takes inspiration from the songwriting and strong female vocals of singer's like Joni Mitchell and Regina Spektor. Using her own songs to tell intense and emotional stories, "While He Is Still Asleep" is part of her debut album expected to arrive later this summer.
